State bingo!

With regard to the European Union, each EU country is a member state. In German the term is Mitgliedstaat, in French it's état membre, in Dutch it's lidstaat, and so on. Guess that those who want to emphasize the "community" aspect may prefer the word member state or just state, while those who want to emphasize that the EU is a fairly loose group will prefer the term country or even nation. Or maybe people just use whatever is convenient without thinking much about subtle differences ...Mako wrote:Euro area is not the United States of Europe, but a group of countries. Therefore I would not call the member countries as "states". Moreover, Germany and Austria have many states.
Oh, and I have one "hit". Within Germany only. But Bavaria, especially Southern Bavaria, is far enough from here to make it an international hit.
Christian
I have got one hit with Belgium and another one with Germany.
Actually, I don't know if the latter one should be counted in because it was me who logged the note in Germany and brought it to Finland. In fact, I have got an international hit with Finland, not with Germany.

You will naturally get a point for the Finnish hit, because you've hit someone in Finland. Just as in the province bingo even a Turku-Turku hit counts as a validly hit province, your hit naturally counts as a hit with Finland. However, it does NOT count as a hit to Germany because it's not your hitpartner who's been in Germany, but you.Aaron wrote:I have got one hit with Belgium and another one with Germany.

Yes. It doesn't matter whether the note's been there before or after you found it.magpie wrote:Does that mean you only count countries in which my bills are found?Dakkus wrote:You will naturally get a point for the Finnish hit, because you've hit someone in Finland.
Anyway, here's a bit of clarification.
Let's imagine a user. He lives in Amsterdam. I'll call him imaginativePinkFart.
These are his hits:
1) Amsterdam - Madrid --- imaginativePinkFart -> happyTreeFriendAnimal
2) Ljubljana - Amsterdam --- Dobredobre -> imaginativePinkFart
3) München - Den Haag --- Sauerlederhosen -> imaginativePinkFart
4) Dublin - Athens --- imaginativePinkFart -> Herculesemena
5) Helsinki - Paris - Amsterdam - Luxembourg --- itse_saatanaperkele -> LeFromageMauvais -> imaginativePinkFart -> Sverigeskung
So, he can say he's had a hit with Spain (hit 1), Germany (hit 3), Greece (hit 4), Finland (hit 5), France (hit 5) and Luxembourg (hit 5). So, he's hit six states.
Hit 2 gives him no points because the other person hasn't found it inside the euroland.
imaginativePinkFart hasn't got a hit with the Netherlands, because no one has ever found his notes in the Netherlands.
From hit 4 he doesn't get Ireland, because it's not the other hit partner but him who has been to Ireland.
And I added hit 5 to emphasise that if you're lucky enough to have a very international multiple hit, you can get many states at once with it :)

You've also got a Germany-Germany hit, so you'll get two states. Lucky you :)Asiamaniac wrote:Me, I have a hit with Westinghouse from Groningen / Netherlands.
