Summer-EBTM08: Candidate organisers/candidate cities

Post by Mr Euro »

Hey,

Another great EBT-year is getting to the end. It has become a tradition that at the end of the year, we are looking for a new place to hold next years official eurobilltrackermeeting. Summer-EBTM08

In this topic, you can volunteer to organise Summer-EBTM08. This topic will be closed end of december, so that in january we can (if necessary) filter out candidates. The meetingjury will decide later on what kind of selectionmethode will be used (voting or lottery)

Requirements/conditions/guidelines for organisers

* Two organisers or more. One will appointed as the main-organiser
* The main organiser is at least 21 years old
* The main-organiser should be able to communicate in English
* At least one of the organisers should have participated in an official international Eurobilltrackermeeting
* At least one of the organisers should live in or know the city very well where the event will take place
* At least one of the organisers should have organised a national EBT-meeting

Requirements/conditions/guidelines for candidate-city

* The city should have a certain touristic appeal. International EBTM-participants will stay for more than one day. They should be able to see more things than they will see on the meetingday. (Touristic examples: Museums, touristic happenings or events, statues, old buildings/churches/castles or other touristic siteseeings, animal zoo, themeparc, concerts, boat or ferrytrips...)
* The city should be located near an international airport.
* The city should have a railroadstation, preferrable an international railroadstation
* There should be youth-hostels nearby where people can stay cheap
* There should be a few restaurants which are able to have a large group of people eating there or two/three restaurants located near eachother which can handle some smaller groups.
* The city has a national bank which can be visited by EBTM-participants or has some sort of euro-related place to visit (Examples: europarlement, money-museum, ... ). This will be considered as a bonus and not that important at all.

Remember this a checklist. If a candidate doesn't match any of these conditions, they still can be a candidate to organise an official international eurobilltrackersmeeting.
Still, the more requirements a candidate-organising team has, the more credibility the candidacy has.

Candidates place your candidacy here in this thread before end of december (31/12). If you do so, give us the name(s) of the organising team, the city you want to organise summer-EBTM08 in and the dates that you can organise it. A detailed schedule of the event is not needed, the big lines are appreciated.

The candidacy for winter-EBTM09 will be placed somewhere spring 2008

Please, keep this thread for candidates only!

I'm very glad to candidate Slovenia and it's capital Ljubljana for EBTM08. :D

The event would be organised as a 3 day meeting by jenny&me, kajak, riba-fish and myself (b100w11).
Thee are already other members of the Slovenian forum that have offered their help.
We are all more than 21years old, the main organisers (jenny&me and b100w11) are able to communicate in English and also some other languages. We have been both at the EBTM07 in Berlin while riba-fish has organised the most recent Slovenian National meeting. All the organisers know Ljubljana well or even live there.

A base line for the 3 day program is as follows (subject to evolutionary changes):
Friday: we gather in the early afternoon and have a short walk around Ljubljana and go to the dinner place. Where we will enjoy ourselves ;)
Saturday: a organised day trip to (probably) Škocjanske jame in the morning after that a trip to Piran and the coast where we will have time for lunch. In the afternoon a visit of the salt works in Sečovlje. Trip back to Ljubljana where we will have dinner together.
Sunday: in the morning guided tour of Ljubljana

Ljubljana has good international airport connections and also reaching it by train is not a problem. There are a lot of accommodation facilities in various price ranges. The public transport is pretty good and the taxies are almost cheap.

We will try to manage some Euro related activities (not including eurobilltracking, dot hunting and the likes...), but for the moment it's to early as there is not yet a fixed schedule, number of participants and date. The time frame in which the event could be organised is from middle July to the end of August.
The above program will be modified to suit the number of participants, if of course our candidature will be accepted. :)
